Summary: Sometimes it really was better just not knowing.

The Doctor rubbed his face, adjusting to the timestream shifting. The Death Zone debacle had ended satisfyingly enough, but he was shocked, nay – horrified at his own future. Why had he felt Jamie and Zoe shouldn’t be there, shouldn’t remember him? Why had he been reduced to a mere Earth vehicle, so restricted? What in the world induced him to pick companions like that, to dress like that, to be that?

“Doctor?”

Jamie’s voice.

He grabbed for the connection to wipe his memory, before confusion and dissonance tore him apart, before he worried his friends. Sometimes ignorance was most definitely bliss.

Oh nice! I always was curious at the ... oddity of Two being there, apparently from AFTER he lost the pair, yet, how could he be when he was forced to regenerate? Incarnations, your timelines are mixey.

Thank you - they ARE mixey, aren't they? Personally, I wasn't really bothered by his oddness with Jamie and Zoe because my own canon subscribes to "Season 6B" (in which there is a nice chunk of time/adventure between Two and Three - and Two slips the Time Lords' leash to go rescue Jamie, hence their traveling together while appearing older in The Two Doctors. ;-)

One of the nice things about this fandom is its flexibility.
