The pendulum rests on a bed of inertia and watches until the force of the universe sets it in motion. Stars wink out and civilizations crumble while planets turn and galaxies float. Old friends fight tooth and claw while old enemies call out to each other for help. Time fosters all and all things continue.

The pendulum swings to the height of its arc, but the machinations of the one can stop those of the many for only so long. Time conquers and crushes and catalyzes conclusion and all things come to their necessary end.

Then the pendulum swings back.
