(Hello! New here; I hope it's all right that I tossed a drabble for an old prompt into this post as well -- I had one that I posted to
100words last week that fit an old prompt. But if the rule is that each drabble must have its own post, I'll remove it! :)
Prompt: #1010 - crepuscular
Character/s: Alison Cheney, The Master (Scream of the Shalka)
Rating: G
Summary: All she wants is one good reading lamp in the room they all hang out in.
It's never fully dark in the TARDIS: there's always a lamp lit somewhere, and even when there isn't, something is always glowing. But aside from the library and her own room, most of the lights are turned down very low, almost like nightlights. It's soothing, but she keeps almost tripping. The main console room is always dim. She found the Master in there with a book once, and asked him, "How do you read in here?" He only looked at her flatly a moment and said, "I am an android, Miss Cheney." And well, fair enough. Still puzzles her, though.
From the phone box, the Master darts a glance across the road, where the bus full of Autons idles in place. Their impatience is like a telepathic itch: uncomprehending, resentful of the delay. Well. He picks up the phone and dials the UNIT lab.
