“You said to dress up fancy!” Donna reminded the Doctor. “Fancy means nice clothes and jewellery!”
“Yes, and you did look very nice.”
“If there was going to be a problem with what I was wearing, you should’ve told me before we got there.”
“I didn’t know! It’s not the sort of thing anyone could anticipate!”
“You said you’d met the Empress before!”
“I have! I’ve met a lot of people! You can’t expect me to remember which ones have ears and which don’t!”
“I almost got thrown in jail for wearing earrings! She thought I was flaunting my ears!”
