Afterwards there is silence.
These days Susan has spent more time on Earth than she ever did on Gallifrey, Earth is more 'home' than her stuffy homeworld ever was. But Gallifrey has always been there. A buzz of white noise at the back of her brain, reminding her both that she is an exile and that one day she will return.
No longer. Susan always was a powerful telepath, so she reaches out into the darkness calling for anyone and hears: nothing. She is alone. No longer an exile but a refugee. No one is ever coming back for her.
