Barbara has been many things. Teacher, student, traveller. She’s been a prisoner, cowering in fear in a way she never imagined of herself. She’s been a victor, too; towering over foes that she never expected to have, but has beaten nonetheless; alien terrors, quelled with the same sharp stare that has tamed more than one rowdy classroom, somewhere a thousand lifetimes away. Now, as the Aztec high priest lowers the head-dress, flattening the sixties bouffant that she can never quite bear to lose, she becomes something else. She becomes a goddess. It only remains to decide what that will mean.
