She would cry if she could. Her children, her brave, brave children, had flown out into the darkness as serfs and had come back as lords. Her strong, intelligent children had conquered all yet ruled with benevolence enough to allow their siblings to rule themselves despite a lack of governance or diplomacy. They lived and let live as much as they could, and judged neither others nor other ways. She gave them life and they made her proud. Now her feckless sons destroy and turn to dust what she once brought to life. What mother would not weep at that?
