He doesn't eat, he doesn't sleep. He's ever watchful, though very few ever see him. The folks of Mercy are a bit afraid of him, but if he's a monster, then he's their monster, guarding them always and they sleep better at night for that.
There was a girl from the town, young and unafraid, found him one day, taught him to fish. Over the years she taught him to dance, taught him to smile again and eventually she passed reminding him how to cry.
Her descendants can always find him, and in their presence alone he allows himself rest.
