In honour of Jack's tenth anniversary, last Thursday!
The past stretched behind him – and before him as well, come to that. Lies, back-stabbing and thievery, splayed in a tangle of criss-crossing lines throughout space-time, leading ultimately to here. Rose was sitting nearby, singing along to some song blaring from above. The Doctor was busy beneath the console, his feet alone visible, twitching sporadically to the music. There was no malice here, no looming betrayal or deceit; just honest friendship, freely given. Borne upon their tide, Captain Jack was facing a makeover – and for the first time in his life he was afraid that he would not measure up.
